I listened to the book as an audio book, and didn't benefit from the knowledge that many chapters were co-authored by others. The audio book version didn't make this clear, or I glazed over the mention of the fact as non-relevant and introductory information. I only found out about the co-authored sections when I started hearing inconsistencies in the solutions offered to the myriad of our Country's difficulties. And that is one of my criticisms of the book. I got the feeling that Mr. Gingrich wanted to keep his name out in front of the voters and Republican Party leadership, to keep his options open for another run for Congress or the White House, and thought putting a book together would help accomplish this goal. The fact that there were other co-authors isn't a problem, but I didn't get the sense that there was a lot of review of the chapters for consistency and staying on message. So I wanted to understand which ideas were the ones Gingrich was passionate about, and which were the viewpoints of others. For example, early in the book Gingrich discusses how local school boards know their districts best, and how Washington should stay out of local schools. Then, later in the book, one of the co-authored chapters mentions how important for Washington to increase funding and support of school lunches. And Gingrich criticizes "big government", and how unnecessary, bloated, and wasteful Federal government agencies are, and later the co-authored chapter talks about how medical care is improved by the Federal Drug and Health agencies. And early on, Gingrich blasts ObamaCare in no uncertain terms, and subsequent chapters talk about how money can be saved and health services improved by electronic forms, filing, and sharing of health information electronically - all elements of Obama Health Care reforms. So while there were many good ideas contained in the book, but I thought that the Gingrich introductory passages were developed to enslist election support from Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, and the Tea Party rather than try to inform his new ideas. Gingrich has many valid points, but it's all wasted on Conservatives, since he's simply preaching to the choir with them. Also, it's wasted on the more Liberal left, since they're not likely to pick this book up in the first place. And I believe that the Independent moderate readers would be turned off by the unending ramblings against the "secular-socialists "putting our Country in mortal danger". There's way too much cataclysmic fear-mongering and an attempt to blame everything not supported by Gingrich on Obama and his "secular-socialists", even if the policies he complains about originated in previous administrations, both Democratic as well as Republican. So I think it was a poor attempt at truly informing the reader about many valid points, and instead was an attempt to re-establish his conservative credentials for what I assume will be a soon-to-be announced candidacy for some National office. I think Joe Scarborough's "The Last Best Hope: Restoring Conservatism and America's Promise" did a better job of presenting the Conservative viewpoint and staying on message. ( )

Informative, straight-forward, hard-hitting, and a well-planned script for correcting some of the problems of this country. Really enjoyed this book. ( )
