I am not one that reads a lot of retelling or likes a lot of fairy tales but this book was amazing. The addition of the character Steven added in a magical part and the addition of the prince's feelings made the story more realistic. I also enjoyed how the main characters had more of a friend relationship than a romantic relationship. Rapunzel is stuck in a tower and the prince wants an adventure. Through alternating diary entries we see the tale of how Rapunzel got in the tower and how the Prince found her. Fun reinterpretation of some elements of the classic story such as the Prince going blind from losing his glasses, as apposed to being blinded by thorns. Fun, fractured fairy tale. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Anywho, this take on Rapunzel is absolutely hilarious. I have always loved fairy tales and adaptions of them, so this book was read a LOT by me. Picking it up again, I still chuckle and wish I would have been able to find the rest of the series. I had no idea it even was a series!
Rapunzel has been abducted and is having a no good, very bad day. Prince Benjamin is the one to save her, but he's not exactly having a great time either. This adaptation is pretty spot on, but makes the horrifying things that happen in the original way more suitable for a middle grade audience.
This book is super whimsical and a fun, quick read. It's made for middle graders but if you want something quick and easy then this book is a great fix. I enjoy anything with fairy tails, so it was perfect for me.
Three out of five stars. ( )
