I'm not into fashion, shoes or the history of shoes. I didn't really find this book interesting. I had trouble finishing the book. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This was a weird book. I am not interested in shoes, so this book did me no good. I did in fact show it to my friends who are shoe addicts and they liked the book. They thought it was interesting and funny at times.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This book strikes a good balance between being informative, amusing at times, and socially relevant. I am one of those many women who loves bad shoes; instead of telling me to give them up entirely (which I expected!), the author suggests wearing them in moderation and only in certain circumstances. The background information of the foot ailments caused by wearing bad shoes excessively will definitely affect my shoe purchasing and wearing habits! Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Very informative yet entertaining. The author goes through many of the pitfalls of "cute" shoes -- I have definitely altered my shoe buying and wearing habits as a result!
Bad Shoes and the Women Who Love Them should be a prerequisite for all shoe-enthusiasts. The book offers practical advice that can easily be incorporated into even the most fashionable of wardrobes.
A lighthearted wake-up call to women to make informed decisions when buying and wearing fashionable shoes. Arming the reader with essential facts, citing medical literature as well as leading podiatric surgeons and orthopedists, Tanenbaum covers the history of high heels, Chinese foot binding, cosmetic surgery of the foot and what Freud had to say about women's shoes and feet. Illustrated by artist Vanessa Davis, Bad Shoes also includes hilarious anecdotes from women who love shoes. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

This was a really informative read. Had a lot of good information and was to the point. Love the way Tanenbaum wrote it. Fun and at times gruesome read. ( )
