Guardian-ward relationship books are not usually my cup of tea, because of the weird power dynamic inherent in such a relationship. So I basically tried not to overthink things too much and treat it as the entertainment it is. Though as you'll see from some other reviews, there were certain parts that some readers might consider beyond the pale: the huge age difference between heroine and hero; the hero's...uh...marital status when he first sleeps with the heroine (but you might forgive him after you know the reason); and the hero's use of "bitch" several times to refer to heroine. Even for a historical romance novel, this one felt a bit more 'retro' in its political incorrectness when compared to other romances, and indeed it was originally released in the 1980s, I believe. With one sweet, seductive kiss, Megan Kinkead is no longer the impudent child Justin Brant remembers. She was a girl when she left Maam's Cross Court for school, but she has returned a woman, body and soul. Once Megan's guardian, Justin, the sixth Earl of Weston, is soon her heart's obsession. Desire smolders between them, and then he tells her he is married.... Set against the lush green hills of Ireland, Karen Robards's classic tale will captivate your imagination and set your soul ablaze as a stubborn young beauty and her aristocratic paramour are caught between loyalty and Forbidden Love.
