This whimsical book of poems both long and short, and bits of writing delight the senses by using rhyme, rhythm, and lyric to entertain children. Each poem connects somehow to travel, be it a teacher at the end of the summer or an alien playing pool with the planet Earth. My favorite was the First Draft of the Most Famous Australian Song Ever, and the illustrations of it.The poems and illustrations create sensory images and feelings of longing--either to join the poet on wild adventures, or to join the poet on the trek homeward. A very fun read. Ages 5 - 11.
