Taking the classic route is FG Cottam, a former broadcaster and editor of men’s magazines FHM and Men’s Health who gave up his media career to write fiction. The hero of his fourth supernatural novel is, amusingly enough, a hammy TV ghost-buster. As a prime-time star, the dashing Julian Creed is the obvious person to call when a reclusive rock star, Martin Stride, detects strange phenomena on his vast Isle of Wight estate. Bursts of an old first world war song, “Roses of Picardy”, are heard in the night, and Stride’s son sees a ghostly soldier in the waiting room of the disused station on the property. Creed and his nubile helper, Elena Coyle, are drafted in to investigate, which is a problem as Julian doesn’t actually believe in ghosts.
Martin Stride is a retired rock star, enjoying the quiet life with his young family on their beautiful estate. On the edge of his grounds lies a derelict Edwardian railway station waiting room once used to transport troops in The Great War. Silent for many years, it has become a playground for Martin's children but now they won't go near it. Strange occurrences in the waiting room lead Martin to seek the help of TV's favourite ghost-hunter Julian Creed. But Creed's psychic ability is a fabrication to gain viewers. He doesn't believe in the paranormal. Until he spends a night in The Waiting Room. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
