Review by Hugh Amory from the 1987 exhibition catalogue: This amusing spoof on the Royal Society shows a preference for third-person verb-forms in th, including Fielding's characteristic "hath" and "doth"; on which basis it is ascribed to him. The anti-Hanoverian bias, though it may surprise those who are acquainted with Squire Western, is Fielding's normal stance before the Jacobite Rebellion. Though the New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature accepts the attribution, more recent work rejects the attribution.
