When raped and dismembered corpses start to appear throughout New York City, the investigation draws police captain Mace into a plot that plays like a horror movie. Taking the lead role in this chilling story may be the challenge of his career, testing his skills and his stamina, but even a superhero would find the series of terrifying crimes daunting. Unlike anything Mace has experienced, every blood-spattered scene is filled with body parts and partially eaten human remains and in the wake of each attack is the haunting premonition of another murdering onslaught. As Mace follows this crimson trail of madness, he must accept the inevitable conclusion: whomever or whatever is responsible for this terror does not intend to stop, and it’s up to him to put an end to the chaotic reign of a perpetrator whom, until now, he’s met only in the annals of mythology. Unfortunately, the mere mention of the word--werewolf--would send New Yorkers into a panic.… (más)

gratuitous would be the world I would use - too much sex and death by percentage - an action thriller with very strong paranormal component but not enough upside to justify down side.
I kept looking for plot development or advancement but there didn't seem to be much of that. Better than some titles for sure but not enough to spark an interest in pursuing the series.
I wouldn't read other books by author ( )

I really liked how the different story lines were written together- not necessarily chronologically, but giving the reader the background as the story unfolds. A rogue werewolf terrorizes New York. While the police rush to find a serial killer, the local pack struggles with what to do.
It sounds odd, but it read rather realistically- in that I could picture people reacting the way they do in the story when confronted with proof that werewolves exist.
(possible spoiler) I was a little annoyed with the "what shall I do with this character? Oh, kill them off..." attitude I was left with. Just when you start to get to know a character, they're dead.
(end possible spoiler)
Overall, it's kind of meh. Not a book I would reread and not a book that made me want to demand my time back. ( )
