Blijft grappig en onderhoudend, op elke bladzijde een quote die minstens doet glimlachen in de onnavolgbare stijl van de Kinkster... Het verhaal is niet zo intrigerend, maar dat is bijzaak. Kan enkel in het Engels gelezen worden, ik weet zelfs niet of er vertalingen in het Nederlands bestaan... ( )

An early Kinky Friedman tome superficially about a cat that goes missing but really just an excuse to make cat jokes and homophobic and sexist gags, and loads of references to drinking and smoking. Not amongst the kinkster’s best work. ( )

One of the Kinkstah's earlier works. Very entertaining but I really think he's gotten better. In any event, it is obvious from the beginning that his warped little mind can pull together a motley assortment of motifs and make it into a believable yet off-the-wall novel. Many of the factors at play are simply red herrings that Kinky has to move beyond which he does with his customary wit and wisdom. ( )

Talk about Kinky. I was having difficulty trying to figure out how the detective in novel had the same name as the author of the book. After doing a bit of research, I learned the Kinky Friedman puts himself in his novels including the characteristic that he is a country music singer in real life and in the story. After the confusion was cleared up, I found the book entertaining and funny because it is inhabited by some excentric individuals. Friedman, the detective, is full of smart remarks that often, although not always, are humourous. The plot was a bit scattered but the usual chasing down leads was fun if not always making a contribution to the solution of the puzzle. If you see this in the discount bin, its worth a quarter for an afternoon entertainment. ( )
