A very strange story in which Fergus Fadden, an Irish writer now living in America, specifically California, is trying to adapt his second novel into a script. He has a young girlfriend and a newly developed sense of his own mortality. Under pressure from his studio and the wife he’s trying to divorce he spends a day and night being visited by ghosts from his past. Their main job appears to tell him how useless Fergus is living his life. It’s hard to tell if he’s learned the lesson, or even if he’s going to live long enough to learn it. Fergus Fadden's future would seem to be ripe with promise and possibility. He has a new love - the young and beautiful Dani - and the prospect of a lucrative and prestigious career in Holly wood as a screenwriter. But his new life can only begin when he has settled his divorce and put all of his previous mistakes and disappointments behind him - a difficult undertaking when the ghost of his long-dead father and other strange apparitions from his Irish past arrive to torment and confuse him.
