This compilation of stories is written by Jewish adults who, as children, were hidden around Europe during the Holocaust. The experiences and emotions of these children are often hard to comprehend due to their brutal living arrangements and the constant fear in their lives. This book would be a great insight to anyone who is interested in stories that are similar to the well known Diary of Anne Frank. Reading groups could tackle different stories and explore the emotions, create questions. Why is it important that we listen to these stories? How would you feel in a situation like this one? Would you hide a stranger even if it put your life in danger? These would be great writing prompts for students in 6th – 7th grade who must learn that some questions require more than just a yes or no answer. ( )
