And this one seemed to go on for too long. Interesting main character; plot was a little convoluted for me. ( ) This was a good book. The mystery of a missing girl intersects in interesting ways with the murder of another girl. The lead detective, Roland, was an interesting and likable character. The book felt long when I was reading it, but it held my interest throughout. I liked Roland's conviction and dedication to solving the case. I liked that Roland's marriage to Charlotte was a strong one, and that they both had fulfilling careers. It was good to see a marriage portrayed as a partnership.
I was really looking forward to read this novel. The novel turned out pretty good. I though the characters were interesting and realistic. I look forward to read more novels by J. Mark Bertrand. Carefully drawn details of police work, well-delineated characters, multiple interesting cases, and a vivid Houston setting add to the strong mystery. Pertenece a las series
