This book is about seven Chinese sisters who each have their own "power" or strong suit.

This story allows readers to learn the importance of individuals abilities, families, and protecting each other from danger. Each sister is important in their unique way. The abilities of their sisters were highlighted in the story. The sisters worked together for the good of the family. Families can work together to complete the puzzle of life. It is always important to consider the feelings of other people. The story teaches children to help people who are in need. This story is for the K-3rd grade audience. ( )

If you are a sister, or even in a family wit more that one child, you would be able to appreciate this gem of a book. It describes the lives of seven sister who live in China and look very similar but have many different qualities. From dragon whispering to soup making, this book gives a small window into the life of what it actually is to have a sibling. For me that means sharing clothing and chores, but this book taught me to accept my sister for who she is and truly appreciate her. The only thing that does disappoint me is the simple plot and the sometimes monotone language. i feel as if the book were to add more expression, it would have received more than a three start rating. Also, the illustrations were very simple and clean, yet beautifully enhanced the reader by doing simple things such as including every detail about each sister as well as describing how the sisters behavior ended up saving them and their family ( )

Aww... I've nothing new to say except that I did like the simplicity, and I did like the updated idea of the sisters instead of the traditional brothers. I liked that each sister had a distinctive hairstyle and a different print on her gown, and yet they were similar enough to be sisters. I wouldn't have minded seeing a bit more of the dragon - maybe in endpapers? ( )

This is a great book teaching about differences and family dynamics as well as culture.
