This is one of my favorites in the Thatcher series, perhaps because it involves more ordinary people or because it has a beautifully simple conspiracy at the heart of it. A truculent doctor is accused of malpractice after seven hemostatic clips were left in a patient after an operation. The patient in question had made the Sloan his executor before he shot himself --but he did not die of the bullet --he died after the doctor botched the operation to save his life. This invalidated the suicide clause in his insurance contract. Nivcce for the Sloan, which gts a hundred thousand dollars for the cancer institute its client had created, Bad for the doctor. Then the doctor ends up dead and one thing leads to another. An older book, but still extremely topical. A friend of Thatcher's is appearing in court on the Freebody vs. Atlantic Mutual case. Freebody was a rich old man who was diagnosed with cancer. After some thought, he decided to take the easier way out and attempted suicide. But he was found and brought to the hospital, where he died a few days later. The insurance company (Atlantic Mutual) is stalling on paying his life insurance, ruling his death a suicide. But it's not that simple. The hospital bungled treatment rather badly, and now they're trying a coverup. The more Thatcher looks into the case, the worse it gets. And it ends in murder. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
