If you're looking for a way to introduce the concept of monsters and bedtime to a child in an unthreatening, not-too-scary way, I'm Coming to Get You! is an excellent choice. The book's monster is certainly a mean and nasty sort of monster---he scares the banana people and eats their whole planet---and Tommy, the protagonist, is certainly nervous about finding monsters in his house at bedtime. But when the monster and Tommy finally meet, the result is surprising and very, very funny. Tony Ross' energetic ink and watercolor illustrations capture the monster's fierceness and Tommy's worry perfectly, and the quick, easy text allows for a fun bedtime read aloud. ( ) Author: Tony Ross Copyright date:1989 Title: I’m Coming To Get You! Illustrator: Tony Ross Publisher: Dial Books for Young Readers Tags: Monster Genre: Fantasy Grade: K-3 Rating: 2 My opinion of the book is that it is a good one for children in the range of approximate development. I think that with its easy to read text and very well done illustrations it would suit well for them. I think that the books main message is a good one, in that sometimes you may have fears and facing them is just something you need to do. Something I think the story could have done better with is provide a better introduction. It in a way just jumped to the climax of it without giving a proper introduction, but overall the book worked relatively well. After wreaking havoc on the planets of it's own galaxy, a hungry monster sets off in it's spaceship for a pretty blue planet called earth. A little boy called Tommy Brown, who is particularly scared of monsters, is singled out for a visit. A fun book, with a surprise ending which tickled Charlie's funny bone. Tony Ross never disappoints. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
