Operation Danny...that's all bartender and recent college graduate, Julian Hallowell has had on his mind the past year. Julian may have no idea what he wants to do with his life, but he definitely knows he's in love with the boy next door: The one in next room to be exact, his roommate Danny Wallace. Danny owns a used text book store just off campus and while Julian has done his level best to make Danny fall for him, all his hard work appears to have been in vain. Danny doesn't seem to view Julian as anything other than that...a roommate and friend. So when new guy in town Andy Baker asks him out on a date, Julian can't seem to think of a good reason to say no. Julian has already instituted a Reverse Operation Danny plan, which he's positive will purge all thoughts of love and lust for his roomie out of his head. He's ready to move on and start looking for his next Mr. Right, and Andy just might fit the bill.… (más)

It's not often that a book will make me laugh out loud. As You Are did just that! Sheer pleasure! ( )

Ok...so here are my quick points...kinda spoilery but not really...

1. I always need to read a book before I do an audiobook. Sounds weird, but I have attention issues and am easily distracted. I can miss one line (like I did in this book) and not realize we have transitioned from current time to a flashback scene...which leaves me utterly confused.

2. The story was fair...2 roommates...obviously in love with each other but don't think the feeling is mutual....kinda irritating at times...I mean just jump each others bones...will ya!!!

3. The writing...I was kinda all over the place with my thoughts here. I loved it...some hysterical moments...some touching moments...but at times things would turn a bit cheesy. Not often but enough that I scrunched my face.

4. Not cheating but the MC nearly slept with someone else...I was all...

5. One sex scene which was really really good...but our MC's did not become a couple until the LAST DAMN PARAGRAPH!!! *pouts big time*

6. Jason Frazier...obviously fantastic! A few voices though I did not care for...but others that made up for it 10 fold...Julian's mother was a highlight!! And besides the breathy sex...there were a couple of very heated arguments that was perfectly portrayed. Yes I have a crush on this guy...sue me.

Book 3.5 Stars
Audio 4.5 Stars
Overall 4 Stars

I love Ethan Day's Sno Ho series, I really do. However, this novel just didn't work for me. I don't even think it made sense most of the time (yep, couldn't help but skim and skip parts of it).

Honestly, this lacks so much in the "romance" part of M/M romance. I think the two male leads, Julian and Danny, could have gotten more scenes together as I felt like they only got 1/5 of the novel. The rest of the story covered Julian's relationship with Gabby (his best friend), Andy (the one he's currently dating to get over Danny), Delilah (his mother), his issues with family, even his job as a bartender and then some. Most of it could've been fit in two pages or maybe one chapter instead of overtaking the whole book and overshadowing what could have been a potential hit romance story with this roommate/best-friend/unrequited love kind of premise. Most of the time, it just felt like reading a coming of age book about gay guy's relationship with his best friend and his mother.

Even the sex part—the very little of it—was just okay at best. The jokes and punchlines made me feel like it's a Sno Ho ripoff. The confrontation parts that could have given the book its redeeming factor ended up very anti-climactic. WIth all the skimming and skipping, the story still draaaaaaaagged. Overall, I think this could have been better as a short novel instead.

That said, I still love Ethan Day's writing and I can't wait his other novels. At Piper's Point is one of my next reads. Ü

Since I'd come out of the closet as a teen, there was only one thing that I had truly ever wanted: to fall in love and live happily ever after.
