( ) That imaginative little bear Ted returns in this follow-up to Doctor Ted, this time deciding that he will be a firefighter for the day. Intervening in all sorts of emergencies, from burnt toast to mewling kittens, Ted does his duty in his new profession, even going so far as to (once again) step in when his school principal needs "help." As Firefighter Ted says, only you can prevent pants fires! Every bit as amusing as its predecessor, Firefighter Ted is the second of three picture-books from author Andrea Beaty and illustrator Pascal Lemaître to chronicle its eponymous ursine hero's games of make-believe, in which he tries out various adult roles, from doctor to artist. Readers and listeners will get a chuckle out of Ted's hilarious hi-jinks here, and will finish the book curious to see what happens in the third title, Artist Ted. Summary: Fire Fighter Ted is a cute fantasy book. Ted woke up one morning and sniffed the air. He said it smelled like smoke! He looked for a fire fighter, but could not find one. So he became one for the day! He put out the toast with whip cream, and made a terrible mess. He went to school and tied up the principal because he was in the way of the fire alarm. He also started a parade with the students because that is what fire fighters do. Poor Ted was just trying to help all day but kept messing things up. In the end though, the principals pants caught on fire and Ted pulled the fire alarm and put it out! So in the end he did end up saving someone! Personal Reaction: I really enjoyed this book. He made me laugh the whole time. This was a fantasy book because Ted was a bear and bears can not really talk. And a child could not get away with all of that. But it is a great book someone could read in their classroom for enjoyment. Classroom extensions: 1. I would be talking about different careers that week and would read this book to give them an entertaining book about fire fighting and would explain more about fire fighting. 2. I would do a lesson on what fire alarms are, how to pull them and why we do, and what we would do if there was a fire at the school. This book is about a little bear named Ted who tries to solve problems on his own by becoming a firefighter. He puts his breakfast fire out, he puts out his principal's fire in his pants, and he puts out a fire at the school science fair. This book would be a good book to use during a unit about taking matters into your own hands. This book is appropriate for grades PreK-3. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
