This one Wren has taken on a client on her own without letting her partner know. She's supposed to retrieve a necklace from a wealthy widow as it was supposed to be her stepdaughter's inheritance. Along the way the political climate between the lonejacks, fatae and the council becomes progressively worse and worse. ( ) The Wren, a political figurehead? The voice of wisdom and rationale? Well, she's trying. Between Council maneuvering, attacks on fatae and lonejacks, missing Talents, and rumblings in the Silence, Wren and Sergei have more than their hands full. So why is Wren taking on a job of her own? And what has Sergei too distracted to notice? Keeping secrets may be their stock in trade, but keeping secrets from one another just may get them killed. Love the way their relationship is progressing - happily ever after never made for such interesting reading! Can't wait to dig in to what happens next. Fortunately the explicit sex of number 2 is not present in this installment. This world has gotten way more complicated than the first novel would suggest. I kept hoping to understand better what was going on, but the "conspiracies" just seem to get more complicated - which I guess is a good technique in helping the reader empathize with the main character, who is also finding herself completely in the dark. I am really enjoying the deeper relationships that are unfolding among the various central characters. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: Wren Valere used to have a simple life. Her partner Sergei would negotiate the terms of the Retrieval--all right, the theft--and she would use her magical Talent to carry it out. Paycheck deposited, on to the next job. Now? Her relationship with Sergei is even more complicated (sex will do that). Her fellow lonejacks are trying to organize against the Mage's Council. The nonhuman population of Manhattan is getting fed up with being ignored and abused. And the Council? Well, they have an agenda of their own, and it's not one the lonejacks are going to like. When it comes down to choosing sides, the first rule of the lonejack credo is "Don't get involved." But when friends are in danger, and the city you love is at risk, sometimes getting into the thick of things is all you can do.... No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
