On the run from an evil guardian and a disgusting betrothed, the heroine finds shelter for the night in a run down castle only to be found by the laird. He's returned to his keep, reluctantly because of memories of his less then satisfying first marriage, to get to the bottom of some money that's gone missing from his bootlegging business. A snow storm secludes the pair in his castle. Alone due to a ghost that haunts the place so that no servants will stay the night, the two quickly become lovers. In fact, the sex scenes take up about half of the book. Not that i'm complaining. They are tasteful and pull of passion and a secret love. The hero doesn't want another wife because he's self conscious and thinks he can never make one happy. The heroine doesn't want a husband because she longs for her independence but it's obvious that they can't fight their attraction or their growing feelings. When they are found out, they are required to wed and it takes them from lovers to distant strangers in a second. It takes them time to figure each other out again as both their prides get in the way. I loved both them characters and this book was such an easy read because everything flowed. The hero is a rake, he knows it and but almost instantly he finds himself catching feelings the girl. The heroine is stubborn but she's a lady and she's level headed. Very nice read. My other issue is with the villain. It's very predictable. The villain you suspect in the beginning is the villain you now by the end. ( ) Very slow moving book. I'm not a big fan of mistaken identity books because, as long as the person is pretending they are someone else, I don't believe the emotions between the hero and heroine can really develop. If the mistaken identity resolves itself quickly than the plot can work well. Unfortunately in this book the mistaken identity lasted through half of the book and really affected my enjoyment. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
