The Mafia has turned paramilitary, and its target is the Executioner A twenty-seven-foot motor home cruises out of Denver and onto a barren Colorado highway. This is no ordinary RV--it is a warwagon, a high-tech mobile death machine, and with Mack Bolan at its wheel it is the deadliest weapon on earth. The Executioner has won many battles in his one-man war against the Mafia, but in the frozen wastes of Colorado, he will face his most dangerous mission of all.   Led by a hardened veteran who's as much of a tactical genius as Bolan, the kingpins of organized crime have put together a paramilitary outfit whose sole goal is to execute the Executioner. Colorado is a long way from Vietnam, but Bolan is about to find himself right back in the killing fields. Colorado Kill-Zone is the 25th book in the Executioner series, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.… (más)

Crossposted at Bookstooge.booklikes.blogspot.wordpress.leafmarks.tumblr.com by express permission of this reviewer Title: Colorado Kill-Zone Series: The Executioner Author: Don Pendleton Rating: 3 of 5 Stars Genre: Thriller Pages: 104 Synopsis: The Mafia hires a rogue army general [who happens to HAVE an army] who almost flawlessly executes a Bolan Trap. Emphasis on "almost". Plus, there's a plot to kidnap the President of the United States for a Billion dollars in gold. My Thoughts: Sometimes I feel that is really unfair to give these books 3 stars because I enjoy the heck out of them. But there is more than simple enjoyment in rating a book. I guess if this was food, I'd consider it a soda or an energy drink. Tastes good, feels good but a steady intake of such will hurt you. So Mack gets suckered in by an old Vietnam buddy who has gone rogue. Fake military making Mack think he has crossed the line and killed soldiers who are just doing their job. A psychological tactic that comes this -- close to working. Thankfully, Mack's friends in the Mafia and the Government give him the heads up and so he can start thinking tactically again. There is just so much awesome mano-e-mano gun battles that it makes my Manly Ego growl with delight. Please excuse me as I go punch out some walls now... " ( )

Sure, I don't have a complete Executioner library, but I was starting to notice a boring pattern in the books I did have.
Mob tries to catch Bolan.
Bolan pretends to be a Mobster, infiltrates them, confuses them, kills a bunch of guys and escapes.
Oh, and he does it with a beautiful woman.
This story breaks that mold and gave me renewed hope for the series.
A new Big Baddy is introduced, an evil Mack Bolan. Another military man with a whole army of disgruntled Nam vets at his disposal.
And killing Bolan isn't their main objective.
This gives Mack a chance to actually save the day and not just survive.
A great example of what The Executioner should be. ( )
