Two essays based on papers given at cultural studies conferences held in the US in 1990, and somewhat inspired by the writings of the Australian poet John Forbes. The first, TEcstacy and Economics', examines the Australian media's Tinfatuation' with Paul Keating (at the time Australian Treasurer and now the nation's Prime Minister). The second, TOn the Beach', presents the Australian experience of cultural studies. Includes an introduction and references. The author has lectured internationally on cultural theory and her works include a collection of her essays, TThe Pirate's Fianc}}e' (1988).
