Jane Smith is living with her aunt and cousin and wishes she could have a different life, when she's accused of being a wanton because she talks to one of the men at a party they threaten to throw her out, only she runs away with Hawk St Claire; unknown to him, hitching a ride with his luggage. He doesn't want to fall for her, but he finds that her ability to stand up to him appeals.
It's a fun read, I enjoyed it, the characters are interesting and the plot layers made me keep reading and wanting to know how the characters were going to solve the problems and issues within. Looking forward to the rest of the series. ( )
