Kings Who Die – Just because you have found one booby-trap doesn’t mean there isn’t another one around somewhere. - 2 stars

In this collection of short stories there are a few with a rating of 3 or more so, overall, I would rate this as just an OK collection of science fiction. Of those with a rating greater than 3 the ones I most enjoyed, and which I have read multiple times, are The Toy Shop, The Face in the Photo, and A Miracle of Rare Device. ( )

The numbering of this anthology series differed in the US and the UK. Hence the US title of this book is 'The 8th Annual of the Year's Best S-F', while the UK title is 'The Best of Sci-Fi No. 4'. This is a different series from Gardner Dozois' The Year's Best Science Fiction.
