The technology is a bit dated (the agents use blackberrys). The plot is very similar to the first book in the series. This book features Coop's partner Mark Sanders. Apparently some time has passed since the events of the first book. Coop and Monica are now married and she's pregnant. Mark's been injured, rehabbed, and shipped off to St. Louis to do a bit more recovering before he rejoins the HRT. WARNING: SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW. READ ON AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION The plot attempts to circumvent the "knowing each other for only a short time before getting married" that is common in the romance genre by having Emily and Mark being each other's first romances. Since that time, Emily married a firefighter and lost him to a work related fatality, which makes her reluctant to love again, let alone love someone with a high-risk job. It's a bit sad that it takes a life or death situation to make Emily face her fears about relationships. Another great book in this series! I love it when a book keeps my heart pounding and holding my breath until I turn the page to see what happens. Someimes I can't read the words fast enough to see what will happen. This book had alot of intrigue, suspense, and romance. Mark Sanders is on the FBI Hostage Rescue Team, but because of a fatal shooting he has been given a field assignment in St. Louis. As he is out jogging he "runs into" Emily Lawson, a "summer love", that he hasn't seen for 20 years. Emily has lost her husband, a firefighter, in the line of duty. She isn't sure she wants to become interested in another man with a "dangerous" job. As they are talking in the park a bullet whizzes past them and Mark immediately steps into action to protect Emily, who does get hit. In the first chapter of this book the action immediately begins. The shooting at the park is a really intense scene. It had me hooked from there. The problem is, who was the shooter aiming for, Mark or Emily. I won't spoil it for you, but you will enjoy reading the book and finding that out for yourself. Mark and Emily are so obviously made for each other, but they both have a hard time admitting it to themselves. I also liked Mark's partner, Coop (who is the main character in book 1), and his take on their relationship. This was just an all-around good book to read. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
