Although written and published in the eighties, the honest emotions and touching stories of the young people in this book remain relevant, as they experience anger, confusion, grief, and anxiety from the effects of their parents' relationship. I was particularly moved by the experience of an of ten year-old Jimmy, whose mother had "snatched" him away from his father who had custody. He speaks of the incident in a mature, matter-of-fact way that made me sympathize for him having to go through such a battle between his mother and father. Although the stories could help other young people through the difficulties of divorce, my concern is that the book is not visually appealing to today's youth. The dated black and white photos, which help make the stories real, are rather boring compared to other modern books. I searched my public library for books for young people dealing with divorce and I found this to be a common issue. So, although this book could help young people, I would recommend looking for newer titles to put on a library's shelf.
