- Short Summary of Main Plot: The book is about a boy that starts off giving a mouse a cookie, and the mouse wanting much more after each instance he gives him something. For example, if you give a mouse a cookie, he will probably ask for a glass of milk, when you give him a glass of milk, he will ask for a straw, when he’s done, he will ask for a napkin… The story continues to follow that pattern of asking and doing different actions with the assistance of the boy. In the end the mouse ends up asking for more milk and cookies.

- My response: This was one of my favorites as a child; I think it is strong in both a story and illustrative standpoint. Since the story follows the pattern of asking a receiving you can make it interactive with students, posing questions such as, “what do you think the mouse will want next”?
