I'm still really annoyed with Mary Jo. Sam is depressed and doesn't want to go on living, his wolf, however, does. Mercy is helping him but desperate to find something to spark life back in him before he goes on a killing spree. Mercy need to return the book she borrowed but can't find Finn. There's a Fairy Queen and lots of fae in this book. I have to say I loved seeing Ariana and Sam. 2019 reread: bumped it up a star from my original rating. Honestly, what was my problem? I have forgotten so much from these earlier books, and rereading everything in chronological order—stories, novellas, the Mercy novels, and the Alpha and Omega novels—has been the perfect way to refresh my memory and linger for a while in a world I love. So much happened in book five, but it all flowed together nicely. Pardon me while I spoiler tag all the stuff I want to remember. Plot #2: The fairy queen coming after the book that’s hiding the silver borne doohickey that steals magic and the fairy queen kidnapping Phin and Gabriel. Creepy lady! Somebody punch her. Plot#3: Samuel’s attempted suicide and the race to save him from himself. Wow! Just a lot to pack into 340-ish pages, but it worked! OK, I’m back. Anyway, I loved this and plowed through it in a day. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

When mechanic and shapeshifter Mercy Thompson attempts to return a powerful Fae book she'd previously borrowed in an act of desperation, she finds the bookstore locked up and closed down. It seems the book contains secret knowledge--and the Fae will do just about anything to keep it out of the wrong hands. And if that doesn't take enough of Mercy's attention, her friend Samuel is struggling with his wolf side--leaving Mercy to cover for him, lest his own father declare Sam's life forfeit. I loved this story about what can happen when you need to return a book to it's owner. The best one from this series so far. ( )
