I love this series, even though I am reading them out of order (this is not a big deal). This one gives insight into werewolf politics and procreation/gestation. It also is a comedy of errors, lots of snark, dirty politics, and some scary stuff before Missy officially becomes Luna of the Silverbacks. If you don't care for erotica, just skip over it and enjoy everything else. The audio is performed by Kate Reading who is very talented in multiple voices and really does add a lot to the read. This is typically the part where I break down the plot but there unfortunately there is no plot. For 200 pages of a book with 310 pages, the characters are in the hero's house....and they're talking. And talking. And talking. Then freaking. Then talking. Oh my god, nothing happened! The whole book took place over a weekend. No not even a weekend. Just Saturday! There was an attempt to give us a bad guy with the cousin who wants to take over the pack but it was comically easy to deal with. What's the point of a council in a pack of werewolves, I ask you? The alpha makes all the decisions anyway! The hero basically kidnaps the heroine as his mate and refuses to let her leave. Every time the heroine wanted to go home, the hero would freak out and then bribe her into staying. He was absolutely obsessed with her and not is a delicious alpha wolf kind of way, but like a serious stalker kind of way. And don't get me started with Ava and the fact that she set up a naked man in the heroine's house despite the fact that's incredibly disrespectful board line creepy! This whole book made me uncomfortable and that's some feat considering I read about possessive males all the time. Very odd book from a normally awesome author. The library was finally able to get a copy of this one in. I had to jump ahead and read the others that came after it. This was a fast read. I picked up read for a couple hours and then had to do dishes and make dinner. When I came back to bed I read for a few more hours and it was done! Not a lot of plot line but enough. A nice light read without a lot of effort. Those are nice sometimes. ;-) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Missy Roper's fantasies have revolved around Graham Winters since the moment they met. But the imposing leader of the Silverback werewolf clan always seemed oblivious to Missy's existence. At least he was, until Missy collides with him at a party and then abruptly runs away-arousing Graham's interest...and wild desires. Lupine law decrees that every Alpha must have a mate, and all Graham's instincts tell him that the sensual, beguiling Missy is his. Trouble is, Missy is human-every delectable inch of her. Convincing his clan that she's his destined mate, and keeping her safe from his enemies, will be the biggest challenge Graham has ever faced. And now that he is determined to have her-as his lover and as his mate-Missy's world is changing in ways she never imagined. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

While this installment in the Novels of the Others is an improvement on the last, it is still lacking in world building and character development.
It is undeniable that Graham is a deliciously sexy werewolf, however, the whole love at second or even third scent is simply ridiculous. A romance based on the notion of fated mates loses its impact when it takes the hero more than one meeting to realize that the heroine is his destiny. Moreover, Graham is not my idea of a successful alpha as he allows a weaker member of the pack to deceive and manipulate him. In addition, the fact that he fails to
Missy is not much better. Despite the occasional glimpse of a backbone, she is presented as shy, awkward and insecure. She is also far too accepting of Graham's dictatorial pronouncements that a) they are mates and b) she must participate in the matehunt. It is clear by the end of the book that sex has addled her brain and she is incapable of doing anything more than noting her mate's numerous flaws.
All in all, not bad as a quick and lusty read, and I will continue with the series as I know that the later books in the series are much better.
