The first book in a new series by Sue Ann Jaffarian. Emma Whitecastle finds out that she can see and speak to ghosts. Her "Granny Apples" comes to her for help and boy does she. Nice light quick read. Enjoyable. A little bit of flirty romance thrown in the mix of trying to solve a 100 year old mystery. ( )
I thought this was a fun read. I liked that part of the story took place in Julian, CA. I liked the character Emma Whitecastle. I thought the ghost thing was "cute". It was enjoyable enough for me that I kept reading and kept thinking about the story. ( )
Not my usual fare, but mindlessly enjoyable. I don't think I'll go out of my way to read more by this author (I like a little more depth of character and plot), but since I think I got this free on kindle, it was definitely worth the price plus some. ( )
***** I win! An author I've never read, the first book in a series, a narrator I've never listened to, and won in a giveaway! The publisher's blurb is a pretty good hook, but the story is even better. I'm not really into plot summaries or spoilers, but the mystery is quite well done and there are some really good laughs. Sandra Murphy is the audio performer who does great interpretations of each interesting character. ( )
THE WOMAN FROLICKING in the waves was underdressed for November, even for a ghost. (excerpt from what would come to be called Ghost in the Polka Dot Bikini.)
