It's simply a collection of his articles, but having the book format made it handy to pick up and read an article or two at a time, which I feel is a nice, leisurely way of reading fun books. His style is very personable and accessible, though occasionally grumpy. ( ) Not quite sure what to make of this. All it is is articles that James May has written for various newspapers and motoring magazines. As a consequence, these are all limited to pretty much the same length of two or three pages of the book. Now, the articles are written in an amusing style and are sufficiently different that you don't get bored, but sometimes you need something to get your teeth into. Each article is well written, and the editing delivers a wide variety of topics so there is never a feeling of 'Haven't I just read this?'. Admittedly this is aimed at the market as a 'smallest room' book, so reading it like an ordinary book and reviewing it as a normal work is not going to do it any favours. I received my copy as a freebie with Top Gear magazine, and I might have picked it up for 50p from a charity shop, but I wouldn't have paid full price for a copy for my own consumption. As a gift for a petrol-head, I can see that it would fit the bill quite nicely. A fun read that is a series of articles by James May mostly about cars and driving. He comments about his co-presenters on Top Gear. It's an interesting read, even for a non-driver like me. James writes like he speaks on the show and you can almost hear him talking as you read. Yes I disagreed with him on several occasions nut still it was a fun read. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Best known as the third presenter in the unholy trinity that is Clarkson, Hammond and May on Top Gear, James May has lived, breathed and dreamt about cars his entire life. There is something about cars that stirs up intense feelings in people - how it makes them look to the outside world, how it makes them feel about themselves, how it looks to their girlfriends or their mates, or their neighbours. These feelings are humorously described in May on Motors, as James takes us on the road and looks at the cars that have shaped him, his world and the ordinary people of Britain. In May on Motors, James has brought together his most controversial and amusing pieces to make a brilliant collection that will amuse and inspire all car enthusiasts.
