The first thing that I noticed when reading this book was that the words rhyme, which is something children will pick up very quickly when reading a book. I loved this book and how it also can teach children a lesson. This book was about a duck who is very silly and does silly things on the farm. Some of the things Tilly does is take her baths in apple juice, wore pancakes as a hat, and combs her feathers with a rake. One day Sheep says that’s enough and told Tilly she had to stop all her silly stuff. Tilly was very upset and for a few weeks Tilly did not one silly thing on the farm. The chickens were talking one day and said that they have not laughed in a long time and that’s when they knew they needed Tilly and her silly stuff to come back. All the farm animals went to Tilly and apologized and asked her to be herself again. Tilly wasted no time and was back to her normal self again soaking her feet in mayonnaise, gluing blue glitter to the plow and many other things. The farm was happy again and all the animals had many laughs with Tilly. This can teach children a lesson that you can’t change who a person is and that that’s what makes them who they are. I think this is a good book to share in the classroom as a fun book to read. ( )

This is another story that I read by Eileen Spinelli. It is about a duck named Tilly and she is always causing trouble on the farm. She earns the nickname "Silly Tilly" because of this. Throughout the story, she takes a bath in apple juice, wears pancakes as hats, combed her feathers with a rake, and so many other silly things. The animals on the farm think she is being too silly, and she is told to stop. After she does, the other animals soon realize they miss that she was being who she was: Silly TIlly.
This book by Eileen Spinelli is similar to another one that I read which was called "The Perfect Thanksgiving." In both of these books she uses the same writing style, which was rhyming sequences. Authors who write more than one book tend to use similar writing styles to what they have written before. I liked that she did that because it showed her personal voice and her specific way of writing. ( )

A goose named Silly Tilly is the jokester on the farm. Eventually all the animals get tired of her silly behavior. When the barn animals realize that the barn is boring without Silly Tilly’s fun, they apologize to her. ( )
