I wish I had received this book when I got my first bra. A must for every young girl in your life. And yes, since I do often work with girls, I'm going to see if I can find room in my tight budget for this book. It is also a handbook for parents & other trusted adults to start a great conversation with a tween girl. Yeah...this isn't my full review. ;-) I’m not a big ambassador of self help books, not that I have something against them. Because I don’t. I’ve just never had the need for one, since I’m just about as perfect as you can be! Okay so maybe I exaggerated a little bit, okay A LOT! With all kidding aside though, this book was great! I would have loved to have had access to it when I was younger. It has helpful suggestions and tips for just about everything, but at the same time it doesn’t make you feel bad about being the person you are! It’s brilliant! Having problems with stress, there’s a section for that! Questions about relationships, it’s in there too! I loved the real life examples, they made me feel less like a freak! It’s a fun, read! Yes, fun! I learned a multitude of things and it was fun doing it. I feel like a better person just having read this guide. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Girls are inundated with images of Britney Spears becoming "ugly," Lindsay Lohan wasting away while partying all night, and all sorts of other teen idols who are clearly uncomfortable in their own skin. They need a role model and a book to show them they're okay just the way they are! Girls Inc. Presents: You're Amazing! is a guide for girls between the ages of 9 and 12 to help them deal with the amount of pressure they endure to be "perfect." Based on research conducted by Girls Inc., Claire Mysko draws on anecdotes from girls to illustrate the stress to receive outstanding grades, excel at music and other creative pursuits, have the popular boyfriend and friends, and look perfect. In a lively, age-appropriate tone, Mysko offers advice and wisdom from successful teens and young women on how to survive the pressures of adolescence--and thrive. She shows girls that they can manage to be happy and healthy while striving to be the best they can be. AUTHOR: Claire Mysko (New York, NY) is the former Assistant Director of Communications at Girls Inc. and is a freelance writer and consultant. She has appeared on television shows including 20/20 and Inside Edition, and has written on selfesteem issues for publications such as YM, Girls' Life, and PBSkids.org. Ms. Mysko holds a Master's degree in gender studies from New School University. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
