I found myself always wanting to come back and read some more... probably would have finished it a lot sooner had I not been so busy. Really looking forward to Elenor's story! ( ) What a great story! I laughed and cried many times! Such wonderful writing and really engaging characters!! I love this authors work!! The switching cousins was a great angle I loved seeing how both tales evolved! Bold and brash Madeline and sweet shy Eleanor. Terrific stories! I am currently on a Regency kick and this one was awesome!! Madeline de Lacy, the duchess of Magnus, is willful, determined and scared to death to trust her one true love Gabriel Ansell who she believes to be a gambler as reckless as her father. Once betrothed to Gabriel, she breaks off the engagement and flees the country to put as much space and distance between herself and the one man who could destroy her. After 4 years abroad, she comes home to learn that he father has lost her in a gaming match to an mysterious lord. It appears the only thing her father has not lost with his reckless gaming is the Queen's tiara which is her family heirloom. On her way to meet this lord who won her playing cards, she hears of the gambling match of the century- surely a game too big for her father to pass it by. Fearing that he will only get more in debt and lose the family tiara, she detours to the game in an effort to convince him to go home. However, she is completely unprepared for what she finds when she arrives. Drawn to the big gaming tournament is none other than Gabriel. Will she be able to resist his charms? Will she be able to find her father in time? When the game turns out to be not quite what it seems and lives are on the line, can Madeline make a leap of faith and trust the man she betrayed her in the past? Scandalous Again is an exciting novel full of laugh out loud moments, a heroine one can't help but adore, and a romance that will take your breath away. I listened to the audio-version of this novel and the narration was excellent! Eh. It was okay. Parts of it were much better than others, definitely. The switching places idea was fun, if a bit farfetched--believable, just barely, since both women had spent so many years on the continent. Lots of potential for fun scenarios, many of which actually happened. I had a real issue with the whole "if you trust me you'll read my mind and do exactly what I need you to do--now leave with the psychotic criminal and I'll probably save you even though we don't at all have a plan beyond the one that says if you love me you'll trust me" thing. So, basically, the last quarter of the book asked me to conpletely suspend all common sense. Which even for me is a bit of a stretch. I'm interested enough to find out Eleanor's side, though, so that's something. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Madeline de Lacy, the duchess of Magnus, prides herself on being one of the most sensible young women in England, which is why she can't believe that, in a turn of the cards, her noble father has lost his entire estate - and her - to a stranger. On a mission to salvage her family fortune, she changes places with her cousin and companion, sending the meeker Eleanor to confront the man when had won Madeline's hand. Now Madeline is free to enter the home of a notorious gambler, and pretends to be meek, humble, and competent with an iron. She is, of course, none of those things; she simply is resolved to win her family's fortune back. Just when she thinks matters can't get worse, she meets Gabriel Ansell, the earl of Campion, and they do. Horribly worse. Four years ago, Madeline was engaged to Gabriel, and worshipped his arrogant kisses. Now, being forced to marry a man she doesn't know pales in comparison to the ordeal of facing Gabriel again, the man who betrayed her - Gabriel, the only man she ever loved.
