Amazon’s digital download line for Kindle ereaders has reissued Jennifer Blake’s 1983 historical romance Royal Seduction: The Royal Princes of Ruthenia. The story of Prince Rolfe of Ruthenia and Louisianan belle Miss Angeline is a blending of Gone with the Wind meets The Bride of Frankenstein. Although the characters are very cultured, there is a caveman-like attitude which Blake applies to Prince Rolfe and Angeline is the image of a virtuous woman who holds back from experiencing the throes of passion. These are romantic themes which were popular in the early ‘80s making Royal Seduction into The King and I of its day, but for modern readers, it shows an old way of thinking.
