An unusual "Daredevil" graphic novel, in which the Kingpin kidnaps a renowned brain specialist's wife to compel him to cure his own near-comatose wife, Vanessa. Daredevil intervenes. A complex and multilayered story, with Bill Sienkiewicz's unique artwork to lend the proper air of unreality to complement Frank Miller's excellent story. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
One of the greatest stories in Frank Miller's legendary Daredevil run - and perhaps one of the greatest in all of comics - gets the oversized Gallery Edition treatment! 'And I have shown him... that a man without hope is a man without fear.' From the powerhouse pairing of Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli comes the definitive DAREDEVIL tale! Karen Page, Matt Murdock's former lover, has traded away his secret identity for a drug fix. Now, Daredevil must find all the strength he can muster as Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime, wastes no time taking him down as low as a human can get! As he is nursed back to health by a nun named Sister Maggie, Matt discovers a shocking secret that will change their relationship forever! But can he piece his life back together and survive a battle against the brutal super soldier named Nuke? Sienkiewicz's art is lovely and expressionistic, designed to convey certain emotions rather than realistically portray the events of Miller's story. His rendering of Fisk as resembling an oversized infant fits Miller's characterization of Fisk and his feeling of helplessness in this story. Miller's work is considered some of the defining storytelling of Daredevil for reinvigorating the character and this is no different. Fans will find plenty to enjoy, though references to established parts of the Daredevil mythos and Sienkiewicz's expressionism may be somewhat alienating to new readers. This is a must-read for the character, but not an introductory story. ( )
