A worthy instalment in the mad ravings of Rhys Hughes, with varying lengths of tales (short, medium, and a novella or novelette depending on how you define those last two). The cross-references in this volume tie things mostly to his other recent collection — "Less Lonely Planet", published by Humdrumming eighteen months ago — but not exclusively. Those beginning to experience the insanity of meta-fiction or lesser-known authors of history (many of whom are themselves mad as a very mad person) would be wise to start with this volume of Hughes's work, as it's more 'linear' than one might expect from the author's pen. Worthwhile for anyone looking for intellectual silliness, or silly intellectualness. Fun, thinky, and never takes anything too seriously; especially itself. ( )
