I believe that The 48 Laws of Power is a collection of precious advice in the time of war and political conflicts. It is useful in the live-or-die situations where lack of power incurs a real threat. Although some Laws give food for thought in a professional environment, the book doesn't really apply to this environment as it, in my opinion, will backfire and causes loss of a professional brand that managers or leaders strive to build throughout years.
As leader one can never use the law of "Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use enemies" as Trust is the essence of successful leadership. Likewise, if you "Conceal your intentions", you lose honesty with people which deems you anything but transparent and trustworthy.
I would not recommend this book to business people who are willing to build up connections to achieve win-win relationship. However, if 'Power', as this book defines it, is the only resort to achieve what you aspire to, this is the recipe you need to have. ( )
