My sister left this book at home so I was reading through it. It's pretty good for a kid's book ( )

While several important fantasy archetypes were left out, the ones that were included had lovely illustrations. I also thought the lists of moveis and books that included each creature/archetype were useful. The book could have used a little more text though, and I probably will sell this once I find a more comprehensive fantasy encyclopedia to replace it. ( )

The Fantasy Encyclopedia offers a brief history and colorful illustrations of hundreds of mythical creatures. From Fairies to Goblins, and Mermaids to Manticores, this encyclopedia is definitely informative with names and origins of the featured creatures, but it offers little else in way of description. It is an encyclopedia for young readers so I feel getting too descriptive would have been a negative aspect in this particular book. Given the author's chosen audience, I would say this book is a great starting point for young readers to begin learning about the supernatural world. ( )

Very beautifully illustrated, this book contains references to creatures from dragons to nymphs, as well as cites literature they play a role in. My only complaint about this book is that I wish there were more supernatural beings listed and explained, although there were a large portion already discribed as it was. ( )
