I think the stronger parts of this are those that deal with the Wakefield's holiday to the Grand Canyon—the plane ride, the white water rafting and the mule ride—and the weaker parts those that deal with the "unburied treasure" of the title. I don't really think the twins' discovery of the ring would have seemed anywhere near as exciting and magical to young kids as the experience of an interstate holiday, but the conflict between Jess and Liz was dealt with quite well.
