Lewis finds out on his 15th birthday that he was adopted and has been struggling with his identity for a year. Then, on his 16th birthday, his mom gives him a letter from his birth mother. He finds out a little more about himself. He dealt with the news of his adoption by fishing for a huge trout that he is sure he spotted. This year he has devised a new plan for the fish, and it ends up involving the whole town.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. There were some pretty funny parts, but there was a lot crammed in to the story. Overall, it was an okay read. ( )

This book is about a kid named Lewis. Lewis is a teenager, who's got friends and fishes everyday for a special fish (a giant trout, only he saw. So, no one thinks he's telling the truth and that it doesn't exist). A shocker happened on his 16th birthday, when his "parents" told him he's adopted. "I was walking home, when this woman with a basket came up to me and handed me the basket. She to take care of her son, which is you. I look in the basket and saw a little baby." His father and mother tried to explain. "When your dad came home he showed & told me what had happened." After a whole bunch of talking Lewis' parents told him that they kept him because, they always wanted a child. Wth that news, Lewis also received a letter from his birth mother. In this note it said who she was, where she was going, and why she had given him up. Apperently, his birth mother & father were king & queen of France. Lewis was a royal french decendent.

Lewis told his 6 best friends, but they spilt the beans and told everyone else (Oops!). rom that day on, the citizens of Slippery Falls treated him with royalty and respect (sarcasticly). Except for his neighboor, who was a little old lady and Lewis' friend ever since his family had moved in their house. Her name was Mrs.Baderhoovanlisterah, and she was like a family member in Lewis' parents' eyes. Lewis was furious, he didn't even know for sure if it was true. During this journey of descovering his real identity he finally meets the fish (how amazing!). He & the fish were (like peanut butter & jelly) best friends. Whhile they were swimming together, a tragic accident happened. Lewis bumped into a rock and flew (not litterally fly, but float) down the stream. and made his way to the bridge, unconciously. Luckly there where 3 old guys (that always made fun of Lewis, when he fished) that helped him out of the river, and brought him to the hospital.

While, there his parents were so worried. The mayor even wanted to cancel the 4th of July fireworks, if he wasn't going to be okay. As serious as his condision was the doctor didn't have enough blood to give to him (since he was loosing a lot).

Lewis' doctor would say to his parents, "He's got the rarest blood. AB-, and we don't even have a donor!"

This was really shoking news to the crowd outside the hospital (friends & citizens of Slippery Falls, hoping Lewis is going to feel better). Then, a ray of sunshine came bursting through the door, with hope that Lewis will live. This ray was Mrs.Baderhoovanlisterah! She donated her blood, and later Lewis thankedher when he felt better. In the end, life was good for Lewis. He wasn't picked on any more and his friends all where so happy he was okay.

I thought this book was good because of the story. It was an adventurous book to read, filled with different events. It was captivating to read. Although it might of gotten a little confusing and had it's up's (good) and down's (bad parts), it was a good book. ( )
