Since this is a really short book, this will be a short review.

Ken's best friend, Rodger has died. He freaks out about dying himself, and goes and sees Cherie Buttercup to make him immortal. He pays her for doing this fifty. There's always a catch, though. Cherie makes him a zombie. It's not the usual dead body coming alive sort of thing, though there is some of that in this book. She controls his soul, and, in his dreams, controls what he does.

This book had an interesting enough idea. I really liked the Caribbean mythology in it.

When Ken goes to the Caribbean to test out if he really is immortal, he meets a girl. And there's insta-love.

The characters seemed real enough.

There were some twists, but I guessed most of them before they happened.

The ending wasn't really good. It seemed way to easy.

After the death of his best friend in a plane crash, Ken thinks he must protect his soul not to be vulnerable and die.
Ken, who sixteen-year-old has a ritual performed that will make him invulnerable.
As soon as he gets what he wants, he discovered that has become miserable and that his decision to put his soul away was a mistake.
The character of the book is at first is very selfish and many of his decisions soon made him see that he was not thinking about the people around him when he made them.
After he falls in love with a girl from St. Calao, he wants to do whatever it takes to be a normal kid again and have his sould back, because he learned that the woman he paid to lock his soul away is very suspicious.
I really liked this book. There is suspense in it and the story is very interesting.

At the beginning of this book, a 16-year old boy, Ken Pritchard, has just found out that his best friend has just died. After finding that out, Ken is determined to stay alive. Determined to stay alive, Ken goes to a woman who removes his soul so that he cannot die. The woman that took his soul is a zombie master. Ken desperately searches for a soul to remove himself from her control. He finds a jar with a soul in it and breaks it and frees his soul so he is now vulnerable and able to die.
I think this book should be made into a movie because it is full of mystery. there is always a problem that needs solving. and this book shows it. there is always situations when something is wrong and the problem is always solved no matter what it takes. ( )

Review by: Arel

When Ken’s best friend is killed in a plane crash, the fact of death claws at him. He makes the decision he won’t die, ever. When he visits Cheri Buttercup, a woman who claims she can make him immortal for the unreasonable price of $50 dollars, he doesn't heed her warning of the consequences that will occur. Cheri’s claim to make him immortal is true, and now he can’t die. But the consequences he ignored are starting to take their toll. At night he dreams, and what he dreams actually happens. He now is a murderer, and has to get his soul back in order to become mortal again, and to stop the weird dreams. Sleators’s "The Boy Who Couldn’t Die" will whisk you away into a book that will make your heart beat faster and keep your hands busy turning the pages. "The Boy Who Couldn’t Die" is one of those books everyone should read, and everyone should experience.

I LIKED IT A LOT

This book was really cool but I think he went a little overboard on the details of dead Roger and the gore kind of stuff. It was really creative and detailed about St. Calao, and the lake that had all of the souls trapped inside it. The book really wasn't as romantic as everyone says it is. FOR ALL TEACHERS READING THIS... GREAT BOOK FOR CLASS READING!!!!!
