Taking Jan Tschichold's famous 1948 "stripey" Penguin paperback design as his base, Jim Stoddart (Penguin Press' current Art Director) has re-interpreted the original look for this series. The result is a beautifully streamlined design, with each book slightly larger than the original pocket size from the 40s and retaining the distinctive one colour look.
