This book was an enjoyable read, and the main message teaches the readers about how the character and heart of a person matters. ( ) Illustrations- paint/oil pastels This book highlights the importance of getting to know each other on a personal level and not judging people based on the color of their skin. It encouraged people to open their hearts to others and allow others to open their hearts to them. I chose this book because this book celebrates all different races, and I think this type of book would benefit all of us to have in our classrooms in the near future. It opens children’s eyes to diversity and how everyone has a story that is deeper than what they could ever just see. Skin Again looks at the heart and at the personality, not just the skin. To many times people are judged by their outward appearance, whether that is the skin color or something else. Students will learn to go deeper than the skin color and to really get to know someone before deciding what they think. "This skin is just a covering. If you want to get to know me, you are going to have to look inside." Instead of having a straight through narrative, the text turns somewhat poetic and rhythmic, repeating lines and words. I really enjoyed it being that way instead of just straight read. I really enjoyed this book. I think it is important for this to be read in classrooms. It shows how everyone is different and that is okay. Lessons like this are important for students to learn at a such a young age. I would love to incorporate this in one of my lessons. I would definitely recommend this book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The skin I'm in is just a covering. It cannot tell my story. The skin I'm in is just a covering. If you want to know who I am, you have got to come inside and open your heart way wide. Celebrating all that makes us unique and different, [this book] offers new ways to talk about race and identity. Race matters, but only so much-- what's most important is who we are on the inside. Looking beyond skin, going straight to the heart, we find in each other the treasures stored down deep. Learning to cherish those treasures, to be all we imagine ourselves to be, makes us free.
