A wonderful small book based on the details found in books found in the British Library. If you are a student hobbiest or professional in illumination, this is a very cute addition to your library.

You won't find anything new here that isn't already covered in the more recent colorful comprehensive texts, but the presentation is good in that the drawings are in black and white, allowing for the reader to use their artistic sense to fill in the colors.

The back advertising is wonderful, with the engravings showing which art supplies of the period were available.

Overall, a nice addition to the calligrapher & illuminator's library; one of the first of its kind and a nice historical reference.
