(fonte: Google Books) I liked this book for two reasons. First, I liked that even though it was nonfiction, he kept it interesting by choosing stories that flowed well and helped to add to the knowledge of his life. I also liked the photographs from that time period. I wish there were actual photographs of the people in the stories, but that may not have been possible. Next, I liked how this book pushes readers to think about tough issues. Near the end of the book is when the war starts and he talks about how right before it started, people went out and bought a ton a food. He family was unable to do so and many nights ate only broth for dinner. Many people thought the war would be quick, and store owners enjoyed it because they could raise their prices but the reality was devastating. The main idea of this book was to get a glimpse into another life experience in a different time and place.
