As fragments of Antonia Whites writing I was expecting it to be flat and dry only reading it out of a duty and desire for a complete collection. Of course as unpublished work it isn’t as polished as anything that that appeared as a novel but it does contain some wonderful gems and examples of White’s talent. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

For many years Antonia White struggled against writers' block, and the Frost in May quartet was thought to be her final achievement. Yet, on her death, several unfinished pieces were discovered. As Once in May is one of the longest of these, and details her autobiography up to the age of six. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

This autobiography only covered the first four years of White's life (yeah, as we all know, White had a writer's block!) but it was a wonderful set of very detailed childhood recollections which reminded me somehow of Muriel Spark's Curriculum Vitae.
Highly recommended for lovers of White – but not at all recommended unless you've read at least the four novels or much of As Once in May will fly way over your head. ( )
