For anyone who has ever wondered about the mysteries that lie beyond everyday experience, or doubted the reality of the afterlife, Angels in My Hair is a moving and deeply inspirational journey into the unseen world. For as long as she can remember, Lorna Byrne has seen angels. As a young child, she assumed everyone could see the otherworldly beings who always accompanied her. Yet in the eyes of adults, her abnormal behavior was a symptom of mental deficiency. Today, sick and troubled people from around the world are drawn to her for comfort and healing, and even theologians of different faiths seek her guidance. Lorna is trusted for her ability to communicate with spirits and angels--and by sharing her intimate knowledge of the spiritual world she offers a message of hope and love to us all. Angels in My Hair is an engrossing chronicle of Lorna's incredible life story. Invoking a wonderful sense of place, she describes growing up poor in Ireland, finding work in Dublin, and marrying the man of her dreams--only to have the marriage cut short by tragedy. Already a bestseller in Ireland, her story gives readers a unique insight into the angelic help that is around us and available to us all the time. As Lorna says, "All you have to do is ask." In this uplifting autobiography, a modern-day Irish mystic shares her vivid encounters and conversations with the angels and spirits she has known her entire life.… (más)

A pretty fascinating subject and read! A memoir on the author’s life and her experiences with angels since she was around 2 years old. She is a firm believer that angels are sent from God to help us in our daily lives.

I'm sure we, as humanbeings, can't understand all there is to know about the spiritual world. I am a firm believer of angels, spirits, demons and Satan because I have my own experiences to know for a fact that they are real. Her writing is so simple and flows so easy that even young teens could get through this book. I’m handing it off to my soon to be 13 year old granddaughter.

I enjoyed her stories but felt just a little confused by the end of the book. Throughout, she was saying how everyone, including her mum and da, thought she was a little slow or even a little “retarded”, but never really let us know why exactly. They didn't know she was able to see angels. How was she behaving that would lead them to believe this, besides the fact that she was a quiet and lonely child? I was a quiet and lonely child, but I'm not retarded, and no one ever thought I was. Her father was more loving and accepting than her mother.

I'm also confused that she spoke to a "Queen of all angels". I was under the impression there was only God and Jesus who ruled over all the heavens and the earth and that the angels were genderless. But, maybe there are different levels and different genders among the angels. I don't know enough of what the Bible says about it to know.

Also, I can accept playful angels who might play jokes on you and such, but I'm a little leary of believing angels would want a child to keep certain secrets from their parents. As in this memoir, she kept from her parents that she was dating her future husband. I guess it could be for the simple fact that her mother was so unaccepting of her that she probably would have given them hell for the three years they dated until they were ready to get married. But, it all worked itself out somehow.

She put into words perfectly what I have always felt about all the different religious systems. You know how different religions, which are human made, believe that they are the right religion and possibly the only ones who will be going to Heaven? Well, she says that the different religions are just different “interpretations” of God. All Catholics, Presbyterian, Pentecost, Baptist, Jews, Hindus, Mormons, even Muslims are worshipping God in some way, and because we are ALL God’s children, we all have a SOUL, and, therefore, He hears our prayers regardless. It’s not to say that Satan has not crept into the doors of some of these religions with their strange and evil indoctrinations, because we know he has.

You will learn a lot about guardian angels and other types of angels, and spirits, and just how they work in our lives, and the power of prayer as you are reading her story. She includes one healing prayer that was given to her by Angel Michael, one of God’s most powerful archangels, when she began helping other people in their lives. Angel Michael told her the prayer was from God, himself, and she was to record it and pray this prayer over people for emotional or physical healing, however God saw fit in that person's life. I photographed it and have it on my phone now. I believe in prayer and will use this prayer in my own life.

The back of the book has a chapter that shows you how to listen and connect with your guardian angel and is worth reading. ( )

This book sounds more like New Age Philosophy than an actual CHRISTIAN. The angels that the author describe sound like the little cherubs that were a fad several years ago. The to actually say that she is a Catholic but not even talk about accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savior. This book is nothing more than New Age Philosophy that is a fad and will be gone in several more years. Sorry but this book sounds more like fiction than any thing that actually happened in real life. Also when the author talked about the Queen of the Angels. The way I understand it there is only GOD and JESUS there is no FEMALE involved! I could keep going on and on about all the stuff in this book but I will stop. If you are a True Christian then this book is not for you! The only reason I finished this book was because I had to review it from the contest win.

***This was a goodreads.com first read contest win.*** ( )

When my mum gave me this book, first I though that no way I'm reading about the angel stuff (really not my thing) but when I started I realized that it had something very special. I cried, I laughed and I cried again... The book transfers love! Seriously!! And it made me believe that there is a guardian angel for me too... (and yes, my mum is very happy about that!) ( )
