I really liked this book because it has a lot od routine as well as very spontaneous moments. This book has many different color characters that are introduced in the book. The vocabulary is not too hard, I am actually using this book as my multicultural book share because every student can relate to a picture day. This book has a pattern that I noticed as well that the girl does until there is a real problem and she actually fixes the problem. I really enjoyed this book and hope that the 3rd grade students I read this to will enjoy it as well. I am going to have them draw and share a funny picture day story as an activity done after I read to the students. ( )

Summary:
Josephina Caroleena Wattasheena the First wonders how everything works. On school picture day she wonders how many things work causing many accidents to happen to the whole class. She ends up saving the day and the class picture.

Personal Reaction:
I read this book as my service learning assignment to a second grade class who is taking their class picture in two weeks. The class enjoyed the book because they said “ if those things happened it would make the day”. The class related to the store vary easily, the class enjoyed the rhyme and repetition. I had fun reading it and verbally expressing the story.

Extension Ideas:
1. I would read this class when the class is going to take their pictures. To help them relax and enjoy the excitement.

2. I would read this book when the class was doing a science assignment about how things work. Then I would have them pick something small and have them figure out how it works.

I enjoyed the repetition of words and the overall storyline. It reminds me of how much my classmates and I would dress up for picture days. It was always nice to see everyone in their finest and sharpest outfits.
