I got this book many years ago, after searching for it. I had heard that it was excellent, an indispensable read to understand the war in Vietnam. It may be excellent; I don't know. It lost me at the opening when it introduced some blonde New Yorker named Jennifer, who seemed like such a saucy little sexbot, I could hardly stand it. I don't know what version of Mary Sue-ism this is, but I burned out on sexy blonde Yanquis as plot devices or decorative accessories a long time ago.

So this is a review, but not a very useful or educated one. It's a note to say I don't know how the story turns out, or whether it justifies or otherwise gives meaning to the vapid start. Someone else will have to do that. ( )
