Paris -- Underground, by Etta Shiber in collaboration with Anne and Paul Dupre (read 28 Apr 2003) This is a 1943 book, supposedly true, of heroic efforts to save English soldiers trapped in Nazi-occupied France. It reads like a novel and reminded me of Helen MacInnes works such as I assume Above Suspicion and Assignment in Brittany (which I read in 1943 and really don't remember much) to be. One would like to know what became of all the people involved after 1943, but a Google search shows not much can be learned of them. Supposedly Etta Shiber died in 1948, but as to what became of her partner Kitty, and who Kitty really was, it is harder to determine. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Distinciones
This early work on wartime Europe is both expensive and hard to find in its first edition. It details the history and individual experiences during World War II. This is a Fascinating work and is highly recommended for anyone interested in European History. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
